Metro Women's Center - Client Testimonials

“When my husband and I did not have medical insurance and needed to find out how to apply for help from the state, MWC was able to give us the information we needed so we could get medical care during our pregnancy.”

“My girlfriend was pregnant and I did not want her to continue the pregnancy. She really wanted to carry the baby but I was pressuring her to abort. The volunteers at MWC helped me to see the way the baby was developing and encouraged me to accept my responsibility as a father. I began to see what I was asking her to do through abortion would really have made her sad. I decided to support her decision to carry the baby to term. When our son was born I was really glad that someone had confronted me with my responsibility. I love my son and am thankful for MWC being there."

"When I came to MWC I was pregnant and afraid. My family and the baby’s father were pressuring me to have an abortion. The volunteers at MWC helped me to see that it was my decision and that even though other people wanted me to do what was convenient for them, I was the one who would have to live with the decision if I chose to terminate my child’s life through abortion."

"However; even with MWC’s encouragement and support, I still caved into the pressure from my family. My mom sent me money for the abortion, so I made an appointment to have it done. While I was in the abortion clinic, being prepped for the procedure, I realized that I could not go through with the abortion and I left the clinic."

"I called MWC the next day and even though they knew how close I had come to having an abortion, they were still supportive and helpful to me. I used the money my mom sent me for the abortion to buy a crib and clothes for the baby. During the pregnancy MWC helped me by giving me spiritual advice, offering encouragement, and providing me with the practical help I needed to get through the pregnancy."

"My family is supportive now but I am so glad MWC was there at a time when they were not. MWC provided me with another perspective on my “problem” when I was very confused. My daughter is a joy to me and I thank God for MWC’s role in encouraging me to follow my heart and carry my baby to term."

"I found MWC in the phonebook when I was 18 years old and 7 months pregnant. The ad said that walk-in appointments were welcome, so I just showed up at the office. I had about $1,200 in my pocket and I was determined to find a way to have an abortion, even though I was so far along. I was attending a religious high school and no one knew I was pregnant. When I talked to the MWC volunteer she suggested that they could find me a place to live during the rest of my pregnancy and to help me make an adoption plan for my child (through a licensed adoption agency) rather then risking a very late term pregnancy termination."

"A shepherding family was found for me to live with and I soon met with an adoption social worker who helped me determine what type of family I wanted for my baby and what type of adoption I wanted. Through it all MWC volunteers were supportive and helpful to me. When my daughter was born they were with me through labor. They also supported me through the grieving process after my daughter was placed into her adoptive home."

"When I get pictures of her now and see her happy smiling face, I am glad I “walked-in” to a place that offered me options when I did not think I had any."
